There are dozens of wine events taking place around the country this August, so we’ve highlighted a few of the best below.
West of West Wine Festival, Sebastopol, California, August 1-3
The fourth annual West of West Wine Festival, put on by the West Sonoma Coast Vint-ners, features exclusive wine tastings, seminars and dinners, culminating in the Grand Tasting featuring a stunning selection of artisan wineries showcasing the diversity of west Sonoma Coast wines.
World Cheese & Wine Classes at HALL Wines, St. Helena, California, August 5
Can you tell a bloomy-rind from a washed-rind? A triple crème from a tomme? Cheese authority and author Janet Fletcher will guide you through tasting world-class examples of seven different cheese styles to help you hone your tasting skills, master some cheese lingo and be a smarter cheese shopper. The class is begun with a casual tast-ing of HALL Wines.
Dog Bar at Bardessono, Yountville, California, August 5
Mr. Moo, a pig who thinks he’s a dog, will act as special guest host during Dog Bar, Bardessono’s monthly gathering for people and pets, on Tuesday, August 5 from 5 – 7 p.m. Rescued by Jameson Rescue Ranch, a Napa Valley organization committed to providing compassionate, no kill rescue and sanctuary for homeless and rescued companion and farm animals, Mr. Moo will mix and mingle with guests and their four-legged companions, while raising awareness for this worthwhile cause. Dog Bar takes place on the patio at Bardessono in Yountville every first Tuesday of the month from May through October. The $25 cover includes a glass of CUVAISON or CORNERSTONE wine, light snacks from Lucy Restaurant for guests and delicious treats for pets. Proceeds help to support Napa Humane.
Steamboat Wine Festival, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, August 6-10
Increase your knowledge and enjoyment of wine, beer and food at the 11th annual Steamboat Wine Festival. Enjoy tastings and seminars around town, in addition to ex-ploring all that Steamboat Springs has to offer, from biking to golfing to yoga.
Kitsap Wine Festival, Seattle, Washington, August 9
Taste a variety of wines and then purchase your favorites to take home at the Kitsap Wine Festival on Bremerton’s scenic waterfront. Local food vendors will be there too, offering tasting pairings to the wines. Proceeds benefit the Harrison Medical Center Foundation.

Simply Summer Celebration–A New Zinfandel Tradition, Dry Creek Valley, California, August 16

Southern Oregon World of Wine Festival, Jack-sonville, Oregon, August 19-23
The hallmark of the festival is the Wine Competition, which attracts some 200+ wines made exclusively from grapes grown in Southern Oregon. In addition to the Wine Com-petition, the festival features numerous wine sensory classes for all levels of wine lov-ers, as well as special wine dinners. Check out the 5th annual Asheville Food & Wine Festival for a smorgasbord of food, wine, beer, and spirits, plus culinary demonstrations and a chance to meet authors, farmers, chefs, winemakers and brewers. The nonprofit organization benefiting from the festival this year is Slow Food Asheville’s Appalachian Food Storybank.
South East Craft Beer Fest, Columbia, MO, August 23

Mesa Verde Food, Wine & Art Festival, Cortez, Colorado, August 23-25
